No News About The Biggest News

Resized2_2016_01_23_Be_PreparedThose of us who live in modern, industrialized nations are blessed with the great benefits of technology. Take prediction of the weather, for example.

I live in Northern Virginia. As you likely know, this and other parts of the United States are undergoing historic blizzard conditions. Though most of us are trying to shovel ourselves out of 24+ inches, the snow came as no surprise to us. Thanks to the technology of sophisticated radars and other weather equipment, meteorologists informed us well in advance that we would be severely hit by this winter storm. With at least three days of advance warning, we were not caught off-guard. Every prudent person stocked up on groceries and other essentials in preparation to ride out the storm. We also did what we needed to do in anticipation of being snowed in for several days—purchased salt and snow shovels, rescheduled doctors’ appointments, rearranged flights to get back to our respective residences prior to the storm, to name just a few.

Our Christmas Trees Are Decorated, But Are Our Hearts?

Advent or christmas wreath with four red wax candles on wooden background.Today, December 1st, marks the first day of the Advent season. How we live our days is how we live our lives; and how we live our lives is how our life stories are crafted. So why do we think we can lead a meaningful life while ignoring the fact that the choices we make each and every day are creating paths that are either taking us toward or away from that which really matters?

In terms of goals and a clear direction, many of us are going nowhere fast. Ralph Marston aptly said, “If you must choose between speed and direction, going faster will do you no good if the destination is not where you want to end up.” [Read More]

Part 1: What Are You Building With Your Life?

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away (James 4:14).”

It’s so easy to mindlessly forget that this life is but a passing mist. Even more profound is that everything we do in this brief life matters forever. Are you embracing

“To Love You Back” (by Jamie Grace) clearly speaks to what really matters…something that is of eternal significance.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!…” I John 3:1
